Videocon A29 with 3G support, 4-inch display launched at Rs. 5,799..!!

Videocon has expanded its budget A-series of smartphones, with the introduction of the A29. The Videocon A29 has been launched at Rs. 5,799.

The Videocon A29 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) and dual standby support. It features a 4-inch display with a WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution.

A dual-core (unspecified chipset) processor powers the smartphone, clocked at 1.2GHz, coupled with 512MB of RAM. The Videocon A29 sports a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard.

It comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage, and can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It supports Bluetooth, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G connectivity options. The Videocon A29 is backed by a 1400mAh battery, with no word on talk time and standby. It measures 125x63x11.4mm and will be available in Black and White colours.

Gionee launches CTRL V5 Smartphone is 12,999..!!!

Gionee has quietly launched a new CTRL V-series smartphone in India, the CTRL V5, at Rs. 12,999.
The smartphone is now available from company's online store; though it's worth noting that the smartphone is available with payment options via credit card and debit card, while cash on delivery option for consumers are not available.


Notably, the Gionee CTRL V5 is the successor to the CTRL V4 launched in June last year.

The CTRL V5 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device with dual standby support. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and features a 4.7-inch (540x960 pixels) qHD IPS display.

The CTRL V5 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6582V) processor with a Mali 400 GPU, and 1GB of RAM. The CTRL V5 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD (up to 32GB).

It sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, while there is a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera. On the connectivity front, the Gionee CTRL V5 includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPS and Bluetooth.

The smartphone packs an 1800mAh battery, which according to the official listing, delivers up to 14.5 hours of talk time and up to 324 hours of standby time on 2G network. The CTRL V5 measures 134.5x67.7x8.07mm and is currently available in Black colour. The smartphone weighs 103.5 grams.

Earlier this month, Gionee announced the official availability of its Elife E7 Mini smartphone for the Indian market. The smartphone went official at Rs. 18,999.


The Gionee Elife E7 Mini runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the company's custom Amigo 2.0 UI layer on top, much like the elder sibling, the Gionee Elife E7. The Gionee Elife E7 is a single SIM device, but the mini-variant supports dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) functionality.\

HTC One (M8) flagship now available in India at Rs. 49,900..!!!

At HTC One (M8) flagship's India launch, the company had announced that the smartphone will go on sale in the first week of May.


However, a week ahead of the May first week release, the HTC One (M8) is now available in retail stores across India, and has also been listed for purchase at online retailers in the country.

Notably, the new flagship from HTC is also available on popular e-commerce website, Flipkart at a discounted price of Rs. 48,120.

The highlight of the HTC One (M8) is the dual rear camera setup that puts a 4-UltraPixel camera alongside a depth sensing camera, enabling cool things like refocusing images after they've been clicked, and other stuff. A 5-megapixel front camera is included as well. The phone packs a 2600mAh battery and supports Nano-SIM. The HTC One (M8) comes with a body that's '90 percent metal' and exudes the same premium feel as its predecessor, the HTC One.

The One (M8) runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the company's brand new Sense 6 UI on top, which HTC is calling the biggest upgrade since Sense debuted.

The phone is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, alongside 2GB of RAM. The HTC One (M8) comes with a 5-inch full-HD display and will be available in 16GB and 32GB storage options, with support for expandable storage via microSD cards of up to 128GB capacity. It is available in Gunmetal Grey, Amber Gold, and Glacial Silver colour options. The phone comes with a 2600mAh battery.

Flipkart woos Moto G buyers with full cash back, Rs. 1 lakh free shopping...!!!

Flipkart, the exclusive online partner of Motorola, has introduced a new offer for consumers purchasing a Moto G smartphone.
The Moto G offer on Flipkart includes as prizes one-year free shopping on Flipkart for one customer, and full cash back on the Moto G for 100 customers.

The offer's terms and condition specify that the bumper prize winner will get a Flipkart E-Gift voucher worth Rs. 1 lakh valid up to 30 April 2015, while the remaining hundred winners will get full cash back on their Moto G purchase as a Flipkart E-Gift voucher valid up to 30 April 2015.



In order to avail the offer, a customer needs to answer a question related to the Moto G, coupled with the order ID of the phone, and send it to Flipkart via SMS.

Flipkart notes, "Winners will be announced on 7th May. Winners will be notified via SMS (and email). Full winner list will be published on 7th May on Flipkart's Facebook page."

Earlier, Flipkart introduced exchange scheme on Moto G purchase and offered Rs. 2,000 discount in exchange of select old phones.

With the exchange offer, the Rs. 12,499 (8GB) and Rs. 13,999 (16GB) price tags on the Moto G got reduced to Rs. 10,499 and Rs. 11,999 respectively.

In February, Motorola launched the Moto G dual-SIM phone in 8GB and 16GB storage variants. Within a few weeks of the successful launch of budget smartphone Moto G (Review) in the country, the former Google-owned company unveiled the Moto X, also exclusively available via Flipkart.

The Moto G runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The dual-SIM variant has been launched in India, with Micro-SIM card slots. The Moto G features a 4.5-inch HD 'edge-to-edge' display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels (translating to a pixel density of 329ppi) and boasts of a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen.


Powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with an Adreno 305 GPU, the Moto G features 1GB of RAM. Sony recalls Viao Fit 11A laptop units citing fire risk..!!


Sony announced on Friday that it recalling some of of the Vaio Fit 11A notebook units because of an overheating problem and possible fire risk of the battery supplied by a unit of Panasonic.

The company has identified 25,905 of the computers worldwide shipped since it first went on sale in February. About 3,600 were sold in Japan, 2,000 in China, 7,000 in Europe, 5,600 in Latin America, and 500 in the U.S. Nearly 7,000 were sold in Asia-Pacific, excluding Japan and China.

"It has come to our attention that some of the internal, non-removable battery packs provided to us by a third party supplier and included in VAIO Fit 11A released in February 2014 have the potential to overheat resulting in partial burns to the housing of the PC," noted the press release published on Sony's website on Friday.

The first incident was reported in Japan on 19 March, followed by similar incidents on 30 March in Hong Kong and on 8 April in China. Sony says that it has stopped selling the product at the beginning of this month and is asking customers to stop using their Vaio Fit 11A laptop as soon as possible.

In another statement on its website, Sony has revealed the serial number of the affected European products. Sony is advising affected customers to leave their details on the page and wait for the company to get back. The Vaio Fit 11A uses a non-removable battery, which means the entire product will have to be replaced.


According to a report by WSJ, a Panasonic spokeswoman confirmed the company had provided the batteries to Sony under an outsourcing contract. But she did not comment to what other computer manufacturers had received the similar Panasonic batteries.

Lava Iris 406Q with Android 4.4 support, quad-core CPU launched at Rs. 7,499..!!!

Lava has officially launched its new budget smartphone, the Iris 406Q, in India at Rs. 7,499. Earlier the device was listed on company's website on Wednesday.

Notably, The Lava Iris 406Q was also listed for pre-order on Wednesday via online retailer Flipkart at Rs. 6,999. Lava says that device pre-orders are exclusive to Flipkart, and that the Iris 406Q will be available across national retail chain stores and multi-brand outlets by early next week.

The Lava Iris 406Q runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box that can be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat. It offers 3G dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support with dual standby. The Iris 406Q features a 4-inch display with WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution.

It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset) and Adreno 302 @400MHz GPU coupled with 1GB of RAM. The Lava Iris 406Q sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard.

The Iris 406Q comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage, and can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G connectivity options. The Iris 406Q is backed by a 1700mAh battery and measures 124x64x10.3mm.

Additionally the company claims that it has used the IML (in-mould labelling) for the back cover which makes it scratch-resistant. It comes in black and white colours.

The Gionee Elife E7 Mini is now available in India at Rs. 19,500 via an e-commerce website.
The Elife E7 Mini debuted in India, alongside its bigger sibling the Elife E7, in December 2013. Unfortunately, the Chinese handset maker is yet to officially release the Elife E7 Mini for the Indian markets.
